The Division 1 Dual Meet Formula
The Division 1 Wrestling Dual Meet Formula combines two elements of statistical measure in order to create the most exciting dual meet possible.
The sum of individual rankings (the seed) and the difference between those rankings (the spread) are combined and then arranged in descending value.
(R1 + R2) = Ranking Score
The Ranking Score is the sum of the individual rankings.
I R1 - R2 I = Spread Score
The Spread Score is the absolute value of the difference of the individual rankings
RS + SS = Bout Value
The Bout Value is the sum of the Ranking Score and the Spread Score
The lower the bout value score, the better the matchup. The best match ups are saved for last and help build drama and excitement throughout the dual.
